This was the first Alternator to be used by GM. Replacing old DC generators, Alternators generate an alternating current, which is then turned into a direct current by a series of diodes called a bridge rectifier. The first vehicle to use the 10DN was the Corvette in 1963. Externally regulated, the regulator was attached to the firewall or a front fender. There were two styles of the 10DN, an early and a late. We only provide parts for the late style 10DN.
